How We Work

We partner landowners, specialized burn equipment, and experienced crews to conduct safe and beneficial prescribed fires, host training events, and provide outreach to the community.

What is a PBA?

Prescribed Burn Associations (PBAs) are groups of landowners and other interested people who form partnerships to pool their knowledge, equipment, and other resources to conduct prescribed fires. It can be very difficult for private landowners to gain the hands-on training needed to safely and effectively use prescribed fire. PBAs can not only provide that training, but also serve to build a community of like-minded landowners who can connect with one another on all land management issues.

Where We Work

Great Rivers Prescribed Burn Association (GRPBA) is based out of Godfrey, Illinois. We partner with conservation groups and institutions to conduct safe and beneficial prescribed fires, host training events, and provide outreach to the community.

We accept members from Madison, Macoupin, Jersey, Calhoun, and St. Clair counties in Illinois. We will consider but not guarantee membership for landowners from Montgomery, Greene, and St. Louis counties. Please call 618-977-2851 to ensure that your property is within GRPBA range.
